H11 Tool Steel/1.2343/SKD6
H11 Tool Steel is a
deep-hardening, air-hardening steel that exhibits minimal size change during heat treatment. Boasting less vanadium than the popular H13 tool steel, H11 showcases exceptional toughness, good thermal strength, excellent thermal fatigue properties, and moderate wear resistance, especially at medium temperatures. Its air quenching under low austenitizing temperatures results in minimal heat treatment deformation and reduced iron oxide formation. Moreover, it can resist erosion from molten aluminum.

-Tempering hardness is approximate and based on two hours at temperature.
-Optimal heat treatment parameters should be followed to achieve maximum potential mold life.
7. Applications of H11 Tool Steel
H11 tool steel is ideal for hot tooling applications requiring maximum resistance to cracking. These applications include hot punches, die casting dies, forging dies, hot shear blades, hot gripper dies, and extrusion tooling. Tools made from this chromium hot-work steel can be water-cooled without damage due to its low carbon and alloy content. Additionally, its good medium thermal strength makes it suitable for structural parts in aircraft and rockets operating at temperatures between 752~932°F(400~500°C).
