H11 Tool Steel is a
deep-hardening, air-hardening steel that exhibits minimal size change during heat treatment. It contains less vanadium than the widely-used H13 tool steel. This steel offers excellent toughness, impressive thermal strength, superior thermal fatigue properties, and moderate wear resistance at medium temperatures. When air-quenched at low austenitizing temperatures, it experiences minimal heat treatment deformation and low iron oxide formation, making it highly resistant to molten aluminum erosion.

7. Applications of H11 Tool Steel
H11 tool steel is ideal for hot tooling applications where superior resistance to cracking is critical. These applications include hot punches, die casting dies, forging dies, hot shear blades, hot gripper dies, and extrusion tooling. Tools made from chromium hot-work steels can be safely water-cooled due to their low carbon and alloy contents. Additionally, H11’s medium thermal strength makes it suitable for structural parts in aircraft and rocket manufacturing, operating at temperatures of 752~932°F(400~500°C).
