Description
DM4 is a commonly used mold steel, belonging to the category of cold work mold steel. It possesses
excellent hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing
various molds such as plastic molds, die-casting molds, and stamping molds. DM4 mold steel has
high hardness and strength, maintaining good stability at high temperatures, thus finding extensive
applications in mold manufacturing.
The main components of DM4 mold steel include carbon, chromium, molybdenum, cobalt, and other
elements. Carbon enhances the hardness and strength of the steel, chromium improves its corrosion
resistance, molybdenum enhances wear resistance and toughness, while cobalt increases hardness
and wear resistance. The rational proportioning of these elements endows DM4 mold steel with
excellent comprehensive performance, meeting various demands in mold manufacturing.
The heat treatment process of DM4 mold steel also significantly affects its performance. Typically,
DM4 mold steel undergoes quenching and tempering processes to enhance its hardness and
toughness. Quenching rapidly cools the steel to achieve high hardness, while tempering alleviates
the brittleness caused by quenching, improving the steel's toughness. Through proper heat treatment
processes, DM4 mold steel can achieve a high service life and stable performance.
