H11 Tool Steel/1.2343/SKD6
H11 Tool Steel is a
deep-hardening, air-hardening steel that exhibits minimal size change during heat treatment. It contains less vanadium than the widely-used H13 tool steel. The steel boasts exceptional toughness, excellent thermal strength, and superior thermal fatigue properties. Additionally, it offers moderate wear resistance under medium temperature conditions. Air quenching at low austenitizing temperatures minimizes heat treatment deformation and reduces the tendency to produce iron oxide. This steel can resist molten aluminum erosion.

Tempering
- Tempering hardness is approximate and based on two hours at temperature.
- Optimal heat treatment parameters should be followed to achieve maximum potential mold life.
7. Applications of H11 Tool Steel
H11 tool steel is ideal for hot tooling applications that require maximum resistance to cracking. These applications include hot punches, die casting dies, forging dies, hot shear blades, hot gripper dies, and extrusion tooling. Tools made from chromium hot-work steels can be water-cooled without damage due to their low carbon and alloy contents. Furthermore, due to its excellent medium thermal strength, H11 is also used in the manufacture of structural parts for aircraft and rockets operating at temperatures between 752~932°F(400~500°C).
