H11 Tool Steel/1.2343/SKD6
H11 Tool Steel is a
deep-hardening, air-hardening steel known for its minimal size change during heat treatment. Compared to the widely-used H13 tool steel, H11 contains less vanadium, offering excellent toughness, good thermal strength, and exceptional thermal fatigue properties while maintaining moderate wear resistance at medium temperatures. When air-quenched at lower austenitizing temperatures, H11 exhibits minimal heat treatment deformation and reduced iron oxide formation. Additionally, it can resist the corrosive effects of molten aluminum.

- Tempering hardness is approximate and based on two hours at temperature.
- Follow optimal heat treatment parameters to achieve maximum potential mold life.
7. Applications of H11 Tool Steel
H11 tool steel is highly recommended for hot tooling applications requiring maximum resistance to cracking. Ideal applications include hot punches, die casting dies, forging dies, hot shear blades, hot gripper dies, and extrusion tooling. Tools made from chromium hot-work steels can be water-cooled without damage due to their low carbon and alloy contents. Furthermore, H11's good medium thermal strength makes it suitable for structural parts in aircraft and rocket manufacturing, operating at temperatures ranging from 752~932°F (400~500°C).
