4Cr13MoV Hardware Tool Steel Sheet
4Cr13MoV is martensitic stainless steel, mainly used for kitchen hardware tools such as knife,
forks etc.In martensitic stainless steel 4Cr13, plus 0.5% Mo (molybdenum) and 0.3% V (vanadium),
to improve resistance to intergranular corrosion.4Cr13MoV is a type of stainless steel primarily used
in the production of knives and other cutting tools. It is considered a budget-friendly steel option,
offering a good balance of corrosion resistance, hardness, and affordability.
4Cr13mov Details:
Hot work die steel, nickel-free forging die steel, performance and 5CrNiMo steel close. Suitable for
the production of side length ≤ 400mm medium-sized hammer forging die.
Chemical Composition
C | Si | Mn | S | P | Cr | Ni | Cu | Mo |

4Cr13mov mechanical properties:
Hardness: Annealing, 241 ~ 197HB, indentation diameter of 3.9 ~ 4.3mm
Heat treatment and microstructure specifications:
Heat treatment specifications: Quenching, 820 ~ 850 ºC oil-cooled.
Hardness:
It can be heat-treated to achieve a hardness level suitable for knife blades, typically in the range of
55-58 HRC (Rockwell Hardness Scale). This hardness level ensures good edge retention while still
maintaining a degree of toughness.
Edge Retention:
While not as high as some premium steels, 4Cr13MoV offers satisfactory edge retention for everyday
cutting tasks. Frequent honing and occasional sharpening are typically required to maintain optimal
performance.
Ease of Sharpening:
This steel is relatively easy to sharpen compared to some other high-carbon steels, making it accessible
to users who may not have advanced sharpening equipment or skills.
Overall, 4Cr13MoV is a practical choice for everyday carry knives, kitchen knives, and other cutting tools
where a balance of performance and affordability is desired. However, it may not meet the demands of
more specialized or heavy-duty applications where higher-end steels with superior edge retention and
toughness are required.
